Extremely Rare, Patriotic, American Revolutionary War period, Colonial, 18thC pressed horn handled straight razor with GEORGE WASHINGTON depicted on the front, and BENJAMIN FRANKLIN on the pile side. This is a one of a kind shaving device that was made by, and stamped “WILSON.” Note the American Eagle, “America,” Cherry Tree and thirteen stars on the side with Washington, and the Bee Hive (Industry) and “Cornucopia” decoration for Franklin.  "Wilson" was a quality maker of pressed horn handles for the cutlery manufacturing industry in Sheffield, England for the American market. Further, these early full length pressed horn scenes, when combining both sides, tend to tell a story. Please see multiple images for details.

Very rare cases set of three stamped blades having one genuine natural material handle with unique locking device. This is the only case set of three blades I have encountered. These one Handled sets are extremely rare and were produced for a very short period of time, approximately 1820-1840. Further, each locking device is numbered to correspond with the specific shaped tang that fits it. Each handle with custom locking device only worked with the blades supplied. Rare Out-of-Print Book:  “Straight Razor Collecting, An Illustrated Price Guide.” First edition 1980. Fully illustrated. Contains some great history, and many examples of rare and unusual straight razors. I wrote this book forty years ago. Everything illustrated in this book was from my personal collection, which I have been selling over this past year and a half. We published 8,000 copies which sold out in the first year. Each time a collector passes, and I get to catalog their collection, a book or two will arrive with the collection. To find out what the international book dealers get for a copy, do a search in AbeBooks.com. I just did. There are currently 8 copies available worldwide priced from $40-$150 each. I am always shocked as this was a $7.95 book in 1980. I should have held back a case!  Please see multiple images for details.
